How to Choose an LED Screen for an Event

In event production, the LED screen has become a central element for visibility, visual impact and audience experience. Whether for a concert, conference, trade show or private event, choosing the right LED screen is essential to the success of the production. The wrong choice can reduce display quality, while the right equipment can completely transform the atmosphere of the event.

Define the Type of Event and the Use of the LED Screen

Before choosing an LED screen, it is essential to understand its role within the event. A screen used for a conference does not have the same requirements as a screen designed for a concert, festival or stage installation.

To define the right use, you should consider:

  • The type of content displayed: videos, presentations, live feed or visual branding
  • The audience size and venue configuration
  • The distance between the screen and the spectators
  • The event environment: indoor or outdoor

The farther the audience is from the screen, the larger, brighter and more suitable the LED modules must be for long-distance viewing.

Choose the Right Resolution and Pixel Pitch

Pixel pitch is the distance between two LEDs on the screen. It directly affects image quality. The smaller the pitch, the sharper the image, especially when the audience is close to the screen.

LED screens are generally classified as follows:

  • Small pitch, from P1.5 to P3: ideal for indoor events and conferences
  • Medium pitch, from P3 to P6: suitable for multipurpose venues and mixed events
  • Large pitch, P6 and above: recommended for large outdoor events and distant audiences

Choosing the right resolution ensures a smooth, readable image adapted to real viewing conditions.

Consider Brightness and Environment

Brightness is an essential criterion, especially for outdoor events or daytime use. An LED screen with insufficient brightness will be difficult to see and may significantly reduce visual impact.

Important points to check include:

  • High brightness for outdoor events
  • Adjustment according to ambient light
  • Resistance to weather conditions such as rain, sun or wind
  • Appropriate contrast for good content readability

A screen properly adapted to its environment guarantees optimal visibility and controlled visual impact.

Evaluate Size, Configuration and Installation

The size of the LED screen must be proportional to the stage, the venue and the distance from the audience. A screen that is too small may go unnoticed, while an oversized screen can unbalance the scenography.

You should also consider:

  • The support structure: stage, LED wall or suspended installation
  • Screen modularity according to the available space
  • Ease of installation and dismantling
  • Safety and overall structural stability

Professional installation ensures harmonious integration into the event and a better visual experience for the audience.
